Breguet, inventor of the tourbillon
The new Classique Tourbillon 7357 is its direct descendant, based on an optimised version of the famous 558 movement now known as Cal. 187B. The watch is available in two versions (platinum and Breguet gold), bearing the Breguet hallmark.
The new calibre 187B
The movement retains the fundamentals of its predecessor: it displays the hours, minutes and seconds. It is regulated by a Tourbillon. It preserves the historic frequency of 2.5 Hz, or 18,000 vibrations per hour, a reference frequency of considerable historical significance, appreciated by all collectors since A.-L. Breguet himself used it. This was already the frequency adopted by Ref. 3350 in 1989. Cal. 187B naturally remains manually wound, in keeping with the purest watchmaking tradition for this type of historically significant movement.
However, the calibre has been extensively optimised thanks to the Manufacture’s research and development. It is non-magnetic – which is why the hands are made of gold rather than steel, to prevent magnetic interaction with the movement. The power reserve has been increased to 60 hours. The movement’s precision is improved through the use of a Breguet Nivachron® balance spring with a silicon pallet fork, ensuring complete insensitivity to surrounding magnetic fields and thus meeting the criteria of the Breguet Hallmark.

Breguet Nivachron™
Seconds display
The seconds display makes it possible to follow the passage of time with precision. Depending on the construction of the movement, it may take the form of a central seconds hand or an off-centred small seconds display, integrated into the architecture of the dial.
Tourbillon
Invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, the tourbillon is designed to compensate for the effects of gravity on the regulating organ. By placing the escapement and the balance wheel in a mobile cage, it remains one of the House’s most emblematic complications.
Bevelling
Bevelling consists in chamfering and then polishing the edges of the movement components. This finish highlights the contours of the parts, catches the light and reveals the precision of the work devoted to the smallest details.
Stretching / dressing
Stretching and dressing prepare or finish metal surfaces through the regular working of the material. These operations create clean, flat and even surfaces, essential both to visual quality and to assembly precision.
Perlage
Perlage consists in applying small regular overlapping circles to the movement components. This decorative finish creates a luminous texture and highlights the care devoted to surfaces that are usually only scarcely visible.
Guilloché
Engine-turning engraves regular patterns into the material using a hand-operated lathe. At Breguet, this expertise structures the dial, catches the light and reinforces the legibility of the indications.
