Breguet and sustainability
As a responsible ethical company that’s conscious of current issues, Breguet takes environmental, social and economic factors into account when carrying out its activities.
Environment
Breguet is committed to tackling environmental challenges by responsibly and efficiently managing its resources. The Maison has invested resources and has taken specific action in a persistent effort to improve its energy efficiency and to meet the ambitious carbon-neutrality objectives set by Swatch Group.
Its main production site in L’Orient, Switzerland, is heated through a remote heating system, powered by locally sourced biomass and it consumes fossil free electricity from the network as well as self-produced renewable electricity from its photovoltaic parc on the roof of the production building.
Breguet also takes its indirect greenhouse gas emissions into account and strives to minimise them through definitive initiatives, most notably through its choice of supplier and the management of employee mobility. Finally, the Maison also makes sure to analyse the life cycle of its products and encourage their reuse in order to minimise its impact on the environment.
Conscious of the complex nature of climate change, Breguet strives to make its partners aware ofenvironmental issues, emphasising the importance of individual responsibility.
Responsible sourcing
By following the Supplier Code of Conduct set out by Swatch Group, Breguet guarantees that its main suppliers are respected throughout the supply chain. This underlines the Maison’s commitment to maintaining high standards not only internally, but also with partners and suppliers. As a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), the Maison asserts itself as a trusted player in the watchmaking world.
Breguet carries out an annual risk assessment on its supply chain, following OECD guidelines which recommend a five-step duty of care.
Analysis has shown up to now that Breguet, following its ethos of responsible governance, has had no negative impact on human rights issues and does not source materials from conflict or high-risk zones, thus reinforcing its image as an ethically responsible brand.
Swatch Group (Corporate SG)
