Sustainable development

As a responsible company aware of today’s challenges, Breguet takes environmental, social and economic aspects into account across all its activities.

Environment

Breguet is actively committed to addressing environmental challenges through responsible and efficient resource management. With a constant focus on improving its energy efficiency and in line with the ambitious objectives set by Swatch Group to achieve climate neutrality, the House is carrying out a number of targeted investments and specific actions.

Its main production site in L’Orient, Switzerland, is heated by a sustainable system powered by local renewable energy and uses decarbonised electricity, complemented by its own photovoltaic solar energy production.

Breguet also takes its indirect emissions into account, working to minimise them through concrete initiatives, notably in the choice of its sourcing and in the management of employee mobility. Lastly, the House makes it a point of honour to analyse the life cycle of its products, promoting circularity in order to minimise environmental impact.

Aware of the complexity of climate change, it ensures that its employees are made aware of these issues, underlining the importance of individual commitment.

Responsible sourcing

By applying the Supplier Code of Conduct established with Swatch Group, Breguet ensures compliance with its fundamental principles throughout its entire supply chain. This approach underlines its commitment to maintaining high standards not only internally, but also among its partners and suppliers.

Breguet is committed to carrying out an annual assessment of the risks associated with its supply chain by following the OECD guide, which recommends a five-step due diligence process.

In line with its principles of responsible governance, the analyses carried out to date show the absence of any negative impact on human rights and confirm that Breguet does not source from conflict-affected or high-risk areas, thereby reinforcing its image as a responsible and ethical brand.

RJC certification (Responsible Jewellery Council)

Whether through the métiers d’art, the manufacturing or the assembly of its timepieces, Breguet has always supported a sustainable approach across all its operational practices.

The project to join the RJC organisation was therefore initiated at the beginning of 2021 and concluded with the obtaining of the RJC-COP (Code of Practices) certification in August 2023. This certification reinforces the House’s position as a responsible player in the sourcing of precious stones and precious metals.

The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) is a global certification and standards-setting organisation for the jewellery and watchmaking sector whose main objective is to ensure a responsible supply chain, from mine to retail on a global scale, and to foster trust in the jewellery and watchmaking industry as a whole.

Through the application of responsible practices, RJC members also contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
