Launch of the book « Breguet, Watchmakers since 1775 » in Chinese
After the success of the original French and the English translations of the book “Breguet, Watchmakers Since 1775. The life and legacy of Abraham-Louis Breguet”, the House unveiled a Chinese adaptation during an event in the Shanghai Boutique. First released in 1997 and quickly considered as a classic, the latest edition features additional pages of new content, illustrations, and updated information on the brand. For this launch, twenty-six historical pieces which symbolise of the rich heritage of the House, were exhibited in a dedicated space for the guests to enjoy.
As much more than a simple overview of key dates, the book invites the reader to discover how the eponymous brand became a synonym of watchmaking excellence. The text paints the picture of Abraham-Louis Breguet, fabulous inventor, but also as an artist who created and imposed a revolutionary style, as well as an exporter who spread his work across Europe and beyond. The tome also highlights his descendants and successors. Focusing closer to today, the author goes on to describe the arrival of Nicolas G. Hayek and presents his radical decisions which enabled this “piece of European cultural heritage” shine again.
