Breguet Gold

Dear watch enthusiasts

by Gregory Kissling

2025 marks the 250th anniversary since Abraham-Louis Breguet founded the house on the Quai de l’Horloge in Paris. Since the earliest days of my career in the watch world, albeit then from a bit of a distance, I have both admired and dreamed of Breguet.

What I saw in both the historic and modern pieces triggered powerful emotions on two levels. Aesthetically, there was a palpable elegance and refinement radiating from these watches that made them uniquely stand apart. As an engineer, I was moved by the technical prowess of these pieces and the realization that essentially every mechanical watch today incorporates one or more Breguet inventions. Immediately after I was named as CEO, I immersed myself in the splendid history of this
house, marveling at the legacy we have inherited from our founder Abraham- Louis Breguet, who without doubt was the greatest watchmaker who ever lived. I am both energized and humbled by the responsibilities that I have assumed as CEO to carry forward the flame of innovation and the creative genius that has marked our history.
We are filling this 250th anniversary year with celebrations which, of course, pay homage to Breguet’s achievements in the past but, even more importantly, plant signposts showing what is to come.
Over the course of the year, we will be holding events around the world, many in cities which figure prominently in our history. In each location, I look forward to meeting with Breguet collectors and sharing our common passion for watchmaking. Debuting in each venue will be new timepieces, not only demonstrating our savoir-faire, but expressing the philosophy that has guided us since our founding and that will continue to be our polestar going forward. A common thread for this Anniversary collection and, an important debut, will be a new proprietary Breguet gold alloy.
I am excited about the plans we have made for this special year. As you enjoy this Issue No. 10, keep your eyes peeled for the introductions and events coming your way.

Happy reading!
