The Marine collection has its origins in one of the most emblematic chapters in Breguet’s history. In 1815, Abraham-Louis Breguet was appointed Watchmaker to the French Royal Navy, marking the culmination of a quest for precision and reliability intrinsically linked to the world of navigation.
Breguet unveils new interpretations of the Marine 5517 and Marine Chronographe 5527. Two creations with distinct personalities, united by the collection’s emblematic codes and the House’s watchmaking expertise.
Rooted in a history intrinsically linked to navigation, the Marine collection today brings this spirit of adventure and conquest into a contemporary vision, where performance, robustness and aesthetics draw their codes from the world of navigation.
The purest expression of the collection
The Marine 5517 focuses on the essentials with a three-hand display. In these new interpretations, the date is positioned at 6 o’clock, enhancing the balance and symmetry of the dial.
Crafted in gold, the dial is delicately hand-guilloché with the “Quai de l’Horloge” motif. The new interpretations explore different shades: ice blue paired with white gold, black with rose gold, and a subtle blue gradient for the titanium version.
At 12 o’clock, the gold Breguet appliqué marks each of these three creations, complemented by numerals and Breguet “moon” tip hands that embody the House’s signature codes.
Where performance meets robustness
Powered by the self-winding Calibre 777A, individually numbered and signed Breguet, the Marine 5517 offers a 55-hour power reserve and is equipped with a silicon balance spring.
Its 40 mm case, available in white gold, rose gold or titanium depending on the version, features the House’s characteristic fluted caseband and is water-resistant to 100 metres. Each version is offered on a rubber strap featuring a pattern that echoes the dial’s “Quai de l’Horloge” guilloché, or on a metal bracelet.
A resolutely sporty character
Sportier in its expression, the Marine Chronographe 5527 enriches the collection with a flyback chronograph function.
Elapsed seconds are measured by a large central hand, while two counters positioned between 3 and 9 o’clock respectively display the chronograph minutes and small seconds. This architecture preserves the dial’s legibility while lending it a more dynamic appearance.
As on the Marine 5517, the date is now positioned at 6 o’clock, enhancing the balance of the composition, while the gold Breguet appliqué marks each model at 12 o’clock.
A contemporary aesthetic
Crafted in gold and hand-guilloché with the “Quai de l’Horloge” motif, the dial reveals different shades depending on the version.
A blue gradient adorns the white-gold and rose-gold versions, while the titanium version stands out with a subtle grey gradient. These shades create a striking contrast with the rest of the timepiece and lend each interpretation its own distinctive character.
The Marine Chronographe 5527 is powered by the self-winding Calibre 582QA, individually numbered and signed Breguet. Composed of 343 components, it is equipped with a silicon balance spring and inverted silicon lever. Its 42.3 mm case, available in white gold, rose gold or titanium, is water-resistant to 100 metres.
The marine world, down to the finest details
Beyond their distinct personalities, the Marine 5517 and Marine Chronographe 5527 share a series of details inspired by the world of navigation.
The tip of the 5517 seconds hand and the 5527 chronograph’s large central hand form a “B”, referencing the maritime “Bravo” flag, while the crown guard evokes the movement of waves.
On the reverse of the dial, visible through the sapphire caseback, the gold oscillating weight draws inspiration from the lines of a ship’s rudder. Meticulously crafted, it extends the collection’s nautical identity right into the heart of the movement.
