The Breguet Museum
Deux siècles d’histoire horlogère réunis en un lieu
Located at Place Vendôme in Paris, the Breguet Museum brings together more than two centuries of watchmaking history.
Historical timepieces, inventions, documents and archives bear witness to the work of Abraham-Louis Breguet and the generations that followed him. Together, they reveal how Breguet contributed to shaping modern watchmaking and how this legacy continues to inspire the Maison today.
More than two centuries of watchmaking history
The Breguet Museum collection offers a journey through the history of the Maison and the evolution of watchmaking.
Its timepieces illustrate the constant pursuit of precision, ingenuity and technical innovation that defined the work of Abraham-Louis Breguet.
The collection includes exceptional creations from his lifetime, among them early perpétuelle self-winding watches and historical Tourbillons. The Breguet 1/8/82, completed in 1782, is one of the earliest surviving examples of a Breguet perpétuelle watch.
These creations are more than witnesses to the history of the Maison. They embody technical principles and inventions that contributed to transforming the art of measuring time.
Breguet, a story within History
Since 1775, Breguet has moved through the ages, contributing to their history. Watchmaking inventions, technical advances, science, the arts and exceptional figures form an uninterrupted legacy spanning more than two centuries. Through its collections and archives, the Museum retraces this singular history, intimately linked to the evolution of watchmaking and the major transformations of its time.
Timepieces and archives, a unique heritage
Alongside its collection, the Breguet Museum preserves an extensive historical archive.
The Breguet Records document the Maison’s timepieces, their sales and their owners across more than two centuries. Together with technical documents and historical records, they provide an exceptional resource for tracing the history and provenance of certain Breguet watches.
By bringing objects and documents together, the Museum preserves not only the timepieces themselves, but also the stories behind their creation, their owners and their journey through time.
