Breguet and Race for Water: a year in review

On December 6, Breguet and Race for Water celebrated the beginning of their collaboration during a conference in Lausanne, Switzerland. The House has been supporting the foundation on its mission to preserve water since last March, as a main sponsor. One of the most important aims of this partnership is to unite efforts in order to guaranty the success of a program extended over five years, the Odyssey 2017-2021, which fights against the pollution of plastic waste in the ocean. The goal is to raise awareness among the general public, the decision-makers and the young generations about this plague we are all touched by.

The Odyssey is a revolutionary ship, driven by a mix of clean energy (solar, wind and hydrogen), that the Race for Water team are on board for an around the world voyage. After leaving Panama in March, the vessel pursued its journey to Robinson Crusoe Island. It then arrived to Rapa Nui Island (formerly known as Easter Island) and French Polynesia before reaching Samoa Island in November. It finishes its year 2018 on Tonga islands. Since the beginning of the adventure, the boat visited nine countries, welcomed more than 3,200 children on board and met more than 8,500 official guests.

The Odyssey will pursue its expedition in 2019 with several major stopovers in Oceania and will reach Tokyo in 2020 for the Summer Olympic Games.
