USA: Breguet Celebrates the 214th Anniversary of the Tourbillon

Breguet US marked the 214th anniversary of the invention of the tourbillon on Friday, June 26, 2015 with nationwide events at all four Breguet boutiques (New York City, Bal Harbour, Las Vegas and Beverly Hills). “Tourbillon Day” brought in VIP guests and Press to discover Breguet’s large collection of tourbillon timepieces.
At the Fifth Avenue boutique in New York, display items from the exhibition “Breguet, innovations that wrote History…” were showcased in order to allow guests to understand Breguet’s influence in the development of watchmaking for 240 years. In Beverly Hills, the House welcomed Mr. Richard Benefield, Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, who came for an exclusive presentation of the curation of “Breguet: Art & Innovation in Watchmaking.” This exhibition of Breguet antique timepieces, the largest collection ever to be seen in the Americas, will open its doors to the public on September 19, 2015, at the Legion of Honor, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. It will feature a section dedicated to the tourbillon, with the highlight of two exceptional pieces housing A.-L. Breguet’s ingenious invention, which aims to neutralize the negative effects of gravity on pocket watches.
