BREGUET, A CHRONICLE OF HOROLOGY’S HERITAGE24/11/2010
Following on from the opening of the Breguet boutique in the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, on 25th and 26th of November of this year, Montres Breguet SA, celebrates the official opening of the Breguet Boutique at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
In conjunction with the ceremony, Montres Breguet SA takes the opportunity to showcase 200 years of Breguet chronographs. An exquisite selection of over 17 pieces were selected from the Breguet museum in Paris and exhibited from the 25th – 30th of November. Conjointly, Montres Breguet SA presents for the first time in South East Asia, the famed Marie-Antoinette Grande Complication Pocket Watch No. 1160, the last pocket watched ordered by the Queen of France, Marie-Antoinette.
An event hosted over two nights, Breguet’s Vice-President of Sales, Mr Rodolphe M. Schulthess, was present to officiate the opening and present the famed Marie Antoinette No.1160 to valued guests of Breguet and members of the media.
A presentation in the spacious 115 square-metre showroom, the decor features a number of the brand’s signature attributes. The engraved glass echoes the famous engine-turned guilloché pattern on the dials, and its royal blue colour pays tribute to the pocket-watch made for the Empress Josephine. The slender gilt casing evokes the fluting on Breguet watch cases, while the elliptical motifs on the floor and ceiling reflect the oval shape of the Reine de Naples watch, the first ever wristwatch, ordered by Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples, from A.-L. Breguet in 1810.
After Paris, Cannes, Geneva, New York, Los Angeles, London, Moscow, Vienna, Dubai, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Shanghai, and Yekaterinburg, Montres Breguet is treating its Singaporean public to a brand-new dedicated showcase that chronicles the heritage of horology.
