Breguet at the Hermitage

JUNE 10 TO SEPTEMBER 26, 2004The Breguet watch company and the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg have become partners in a major exhibition of Breguet antique clocks and watches at the Hermitage from June 10 to September 26, 2004.The show, celebrating links between Breguet and Russia going back some two centuries, brings together 130 of the world’s most important horological works — Breguet timepieces from the great museums and private collections. Displayed among items from the British Museum, the Hermitage and Kremlin museums, the Louvre and the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris, are the pieces from the growing collection of Breguet’s own museum. The fabulous setting of the Hermitage — the former Winter Palace of the tsars — honours A.-L. Breguet (1747-1823), the brilliant horologist who established watchmaking as a vital element of European art and culture....
