BREGUET PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE BONAPARTE FAMILY IN THE UNITED STATES

2013.06.27

Napoleon Bonaparte and the members of his family are among the distinguished patrons of Breguet who devoted special interest in the brand from its beginnings some 200 years ago. To pay tribute to this extraordinary family, Breguet recently supported an exhibition around Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte, sister-in-law of General Napoleon Bonaparte, entitled: “Woman of Two Worlds: Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte and Her Quest for an Imperial Legacy ».

Held in Baltimore in the United States by the cultural institution The Maryland Historical Society, this retrospective was unveiled during a gala evening at Garrett-Jacobs Mansion. This magnificent building dating from the nineteenth century welcomed for the occasion more than 300 guests, including the Count Adam Carl Motlke-Huitfeldt and Countess Elizabeth Moltke-Huitfeldt, descendants of Jerome Bonaparte and his wife Elizabeth.

The exhibition emphasizes the 'two worlds' that Elizabeth inhabited. Through objects associated with Elizabeth and her descendants – such as paintings, textiles, jewellery, manuscripts or furniture –, visitors have a glimpse of her royal life spent between America and Europe. A beautiful tribute to be discovered until June 9, 2014, at the Maryland Historical Society museum.
