The Ommegang

This year Montres Breguet joined the festivities associated with the Ommegang, a Brussels tradition that goes back to the 15th century and means “procession” in old Flemish. It is in fact a costumed parade in the streets of the city that ends in the magnificent decor of its Grand-Place.

Its centuries-old paved streets once again salute emperor Charles V and his son Philip, crown prince of Spain, and his sisters, Eléonore, queen of France, and Mary of Austria, queen of Hungary and governess of the Low Countries.

Breguet’s guests were offered a dinner in the grand style in the splendid gothic-style premises of the Brussels city hall, after which they were afforded an opportunity to survey the Breguet watch and jewellery collections before enjoying the show on the Grand-Place.
